Why was Gaza deconstructed?

  • Foreign Minister Stephen Smith has announced Australia will give a further $20 million to help with the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza. Mr Smith says the new funding will be committed at an international donors conference on the recovery of Gaza in Egypt on Monday.
  • • Who are the other 'donors'. Is Israel, the nation that destroyed the Gaza Strip, on top of the list ... are they even there? I find it offensive that we in Australia were encouraged to support Israel in this conflict even though we witnessed widespread devastation of the population of Gaza. Now, we voluntarily donate around $50 million to reconstruction.  Who leaned on us for this ongoing funding?- post by gnaylor
    
    
  • A 22-day Israeli offensive against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip ended on January 18 after causing massive devastation and killing about 1,300 Palestinians. Thirteen Israelis also died in the conflict.
