Yakandandah Bush Nursing Hospital already upgraded

Mrs Sophie Mirabella MP, the Federal Member for Indi, officially opened the new and upgraded Yackandandah Bush Nursing Hospital on 4th of July following significant renovations on the basis of funding from the Howard Government’s Rural Private Access Program.

“I am delighted to open this new facility that includes a seventeen bed upgrade delivering better services for local residents.”

“I want to congratulate Chris Smith, the General Manager, and Pam Crothwaite, the Director of Nursing, the Board of Management, and the rest of their dedicated team for bringing this project to fruition and for serving the Yackandandah community so well.”

“The Howard Government provided approximately $614,000 to add to local funding for this project, and is a clear demonstration of my support for community owned and operated hospital facilities for rural towns.”

“The purchase of equipment and the upgrade of the hospital will provide the community with accommodation that meets community standards and expectations and will assist the financial viability of the Yackandandah service through improved occupancy rates and efficient operation,” Mrs Mirabella said.

“This grant, as part of the Rural Private Access Programme, will significantly enhance the capacity of the private health sector to deliver quality health services to local communities.”

The Rural Private Access Programme is part of the Howard Government’s Rural Health Strategy, which provides $830 million over four years for health and aged care services and workforce measures.
