'Rendition role' of the Coalition of the Willing

  • Binyam Mohamed Britain has been accused of taking part in US "renditions" of terror suspects in a United Nations report.

UN Special Rapporteur Martin Scheinin said he was "deeply troubled" at the US system of rendition, secret detention and practices violating torture bans.

But he said it was only possible with the collaboration of allies including the UK, Pakistan, Indonesia and Kenya.

  • The report goes on to say that countries are "responsible" if they knowingly help other states carry out human rights violations and should limit cooperation with such countries.

      • ... and by association through "The Coalition of the Willing", Australia must be included in the list of countries implicit in the US Rendition process. Remember when the Austrlian claimed he had been tortured at Guantanamo Bay. He claimed that Australian officers were present during his 'interrofation. - post by Greg Naylor

Oh yes, Aussie is deeply mired in this scandal. We should definitely 'limit our cooperation' with the human rights violating USA.

I'm told Ireland was deeply implicit too, with their Shannon airport a staging centre for the US 'rendition' flights.

I'm also told that the UN has a staff similar to the size of the city council of Sydney, and we expect them to police the world.
